Well I'm back home after an uneventfull plane ride. Lati was nice enough to drive me to the airport. I've spent the last few days just looking around going to places. Also though looking in to getting a new computer. My old one broke fianlly and now I have to get a new laptop. I been looking around and it's nice to know that it won't be as expensive as my old one. I've been looking and I'm torn between another Vaio or an Hewlett Packard, both of which are nice and shoudl allow me to play games on it well enough. Other then that I've been reading quite a bit and watching TV. Though I do need to work on painting my Dark Age minis though I realized I didn't have any brushed until after I got back from the gaming store so I'll either have to go look for some I may have hear or go buy new ones

On I did get my final grades and there pretty good. Got an A in Roman Republic, and A- in Transformation of Modern China, a B+ in International Security and a B in General Anthropology. I think it certainly helps my chances of getting into grad school.

Phoenicia

Capital: Carthage
Phoenicia is a small water world, the second planet in the system. It is the only habitable world in the system, though it seems the 3^rd planet in the system, Baalbek, appears to be a prime candidate for terraformation if needed. Phoenicia has one small moon about the size of Pluto named Hannibal.

The world is slightly smaller then Terra, about 20% larger then Mars, though it’s closeness to the Sun makes the gravity on the planet approximately 0.93 Gs. The world’s surface is 80% water with the majority of the land is contained on one continent named Tyre, the rest is a scattering of island chains throughout the large ocean of Phoenicia, with about half these island chains being a result of volcanic activity while the others are actually the tops of sunken continents. There is also the possibility of land underneath the planet’s ice caps, but is unknown at this time.

Tyre is an ecologically diverse continent. The most notable geological feature are the large Agenor Mountains in the north of the continent and provide a barrier on the continent and allowed different species to flourish on both sides of the mountains. The mountains have shown to have a number of deposits of valuable minerals relatively close of the surface of the planet. This appears to be caused by collision of two separate tectonic plates, which forced the ground upward forming the mountains To the South of the mountains lays a large plain that would be ideal for animal grazing or the growth of crops. Farther south lays a strip of forest that protects the plains from the colder sea air making the planes warmer then the coast. The southern coast has many long thin peninsulas, which provide numerous small bays, inlets, and even fjords. They are also home to a wide variety of plants and animals including the very interesting Phoenician Purple Salamander, which is a large amphibian about the size of a crocodile. North of the Agenor Mts is a large forested area, which house the most interesting creatures, such as the 3 tailed fox and a number of colorful bird-like creatures. The islands have yet to be fully explored but seem to house a number of unique creatures, leading giving further evidence to the theory the planet had a lower sea level in the past, but why this happened is unknown at this time.

Well things have been pretty normal here up north. I'm working at Osco again and it's not too bad as always. I have been working on my warhammer army. I got another Spawn that I'm painting and a Sorcerer that I got a while back i'm finally getting around to putting together. Next I hope to finally paint the Battle of Macragge terrain I have.

I also found something interesting the other day. I was in a bookstore when I saw a version of the Warhammer Fantasy Role-playin game. It intrigued me enough to buy it. I know a number of people who have read the original book and said it had alot of probelms with it. The new version is an imporved version of the rules done by Green Ronin, which speaks well of it in my opinion. Since I never fully read the original rule book I'm not 100% clear on exactly what was wrong with it, but from reading the designer notes they fixed the careers (basicly classes) to be more balanced over all so none would totally suck, though I think that some are still alot better then others. They also changed the stats to be more relivent to role-palying as some were taken straight from the wargame.
Overall I think it's no that bad of a system. I still think Victory Point is better, but it is not a bad system. It is d100 based as everything is percents and all the skills are based on a stat, which makes you equally good at eall the skills that uses the same stat. The talents, which were separated from the skills, modify some skills in certain situations, but I'm not sure if it is enough for my tastes.
The combat rules let you make combat as simple or as exact as you want depending on whether you use the basic or advanced rules. Combat is pretty quick, though I can't be too sure until I actually play a game of it. Damage is based on the strength of the wielder of the weapon for melee and armor is damage reduction, so doing alot of damage can be tricky, but a good hit will hurt alot. The rules make it not to difficult to avoid attacks as everyone can parry though it's tricky unless your good in HTH.
The Magic system has apparently been redone to be more in line with 6th ed. Warhammer fantasy rules and magic is not as powerful as it is in D&D and you also have to worry about being affected by Chaos. They have divine magic which is about as powerful, but a starting priest will not have magic. You don't have as bad negitive side affects as arcane magic but your god can still thump you if you screw up.
The new laws out the rules in a fairly straight forward manner. One read through gave me a pretty good idea how it all workds and it's not bad.

Well I'm back home in Naperville. I left on Saturday as the weather was not that good on Friday as I had originally planned. The trip was long an uneventful, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Saw a few odd thinsg on my trip and I thought I'd share them.

Bland, Virginia. Yes such a place exists. It's in Bland County as well.
Transylvania University. There is such a school. It's in Lexington Kentucky, which is an odd place to have it as Transylvania is in Eastern Europe, but hey.
The trunk monkey. It was an add for a car dealership that featured a monkey presumably in a trunk though I'd rather not find out.
Madalyn the emo. This is my sister Madalyn. The crazy one that spent a year in Utah. She has now become an emo complete with black makeup around the eyes and a wardrobe that looks like she stole it from Avril Lavigne.

Well now I'm back and I have to work on painting my warhammer stuff and getting new stuff. SO hopefully that will go well.

Have you ever had one of those days in which it seemed that whatever higher power(s) there is is doing everythign it can to make your life horrible. If so then you know how I feel and it's only 2:20. Things have just been not going my way all month for some reason and it's just been rough. Ever wish you could just take a break from your life for like a week and come back to it like you never left. I certainly do, but fate is not that kind of a person so off to the proverbaly work I go and I expect it to get worse and that's not just because of SGA, which is certainly not going to make my mood any better.
